I95 ZEV CORRIDOR
Overview
The New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition is taking part in two significant projects that are aimed at decarbonizing commercial transportation on the East Coast along the I-95 corridor.
The Northeast Freight Corridor Charging Plan kicked off in October of 2023 in partnership with National Grid. This two-year project will devise a plan to deploy charging infrastructure strategically throughout the Northeast United States along the I-95 corridor. Since the start of the project the team has selected over 130 potential sites, which will be narrowed down to 30-40 sites through scoring based on various environmental justice, load forecast, and infrastructure criteria, after which the regional plan will be formed and a Roadmap will be created to guide the implementation of the project findings.
The East Coast Commercial ZEV Corridor project is aimed at implementing efficient and equitable Zero Emission Vehicle infrastructure along the I-95 corridor in New Jersey and South down to Georgia. This project in partnership with CALSTART includes three main Working Groups that will have different focuses throughout the project. The Community Needs and Benefits Working Group focuses on ways to prioritize community needs and benefits while decarbonizing the corridor. The Industry and Fleet Needs Working Group will assess the scale and pace of demand for market development. The Infrastructure Planning Working Group will focus on infrastructure planning and policy considerations throughout the project. The project will result in a final investment strategy and blueprint that will guide implementation and workforce development.
